Sandbanks Luxury Real Estate Profile (BH13)

Sandbanks has become famous in the last decade for having some of the most expensive property for sale in the world per square foot. Like many of the best myths, this one only relates to a few dozen properties. This tiny spit of land also boasts some of the finest cutting edge contemporary architecture in the country.

The Piers Morgan effect: In early 2008 Piers Morgan presented a three part documentary series on Sandbanks which highlighted the high property prices and some of our local celebrities and businessmen. Unfortunately, the representation of life in Sandbanks was a little overblown for the sake of entertainment. The documentary was also made just before the recession and things have changed a great deal since then.

Today Sandbanks still has a number of football personalities and a few other celebrities, but by and large, most people buy luxury property here for the quality of life and the amazing beach on the doorstep. Rick Stein has recently opened a new restaurant in Sandbanks and this more accurately reflects the type of people living here. Nowadays our celebrities prefer to stay "low key".

Some of the most sought after roads include Banks Road which links the peninsular with neighbouring Canford Cliffs. Banks Road was recently named by Lloyds bank as one of the top 50 most expensive streets in the UK (although the research incorrectly referred to it as Sandbanks Rd; which is actually located in neighbouring Lilliput and Whitecliff). The luxury properties for sale on the eastern end of Banks Rd have the duel advantage of direct beach front access to the south and unobstructed views over Poole harbour to the north.

Moving on down to the peninsular itself, Banks Road continues with luxury direct access beach front houses and purpose built executive flats to the south of the road.

At the point where the road turns north by the Haven Hotel and the chain ferry to Studland; Banks Road becomes Panorama Road with a collection of amazing waterfront homes facing Brownsea Island and the harbour entrance. Panorama Road continues to loop around the Sandbanks peninsular with equally impressive waterfront houses facing north over Poole harbour.

Shore Road is another firm favourite with views over the harbour and Brownsea Island to the west. Go a few hundred metres north along Shore Road and you are in Lilliput and Evening Hill.
